Daddy's girl

When I asked Noah if he wanted Kate to come and visit him at work, there was no hesitation. He even had just the thing for her to wear...a custom made onesie! I was so surprised and loved his creativity and thoughtfulness. He had it specially made for Kate at an embroidery store, too. It was the PERFECT thing for him to give to her~and I must say myself, she looked pretty darn cute in it! I think we should call 24 Hour Fitness corporate offices and say we have their next model. Here is Katelyn pictured at 7 weeks old.

Katelyn went to visit Noah at work and of course she wore her "workout clothes". It was so cute to watch Noah parade her around to his co-workers and show is daughter off. It was a "proud daddy" moment and it was so priceless for me to sit back and watch him interact with her and his employees and club members. She got to sit with him behind his desk, talk to the personal trainers (who were all fighting over who gets to be the first to train her), and even a few members wanted to "ooh and ahh" over her good looks and adorable outfit. Oh Miss Kate...you have NO idea how much your daddy loves you, girlfriend!!

(Don't you just LOVE their matching outfits?!?) The 2 loves of my life...AHHHHHH~life is good!

8 Weeks!

WOW...8 WEEKS ALREADY?!? Where has the time gone?!?

Katelyn is 8 weeks old! I can't believe how quickly time has passed. Her new obsessions this past week or longer have been sucking on her hands like CRAZY! It is like the backs of her hands and her fingers are popsicle sticks and she just keeps licking away~this also leads to MUCH drooling as well. It's hard to get a picture of her these days without her hands in her face/mouth!

I have been walking a lot more with her in her stroller. It is so fun to get out again and feel like I'm getting somewhat of a workout in~and we've been walking with my friend Allison and her daughter Addison, who is 6 days younger than Kate. It is so nice to compare notes with another mother and daughter in the same phase of life as myself. And we have been walking rain/drizzle or shine~3 to 5 miles at a time. Kate LOVES her BOB stroller, thankfully. She gets lulled to sleep by the bumps in the road and the sounds of the street/nature and then every once in a while she will wake up to make sure she hasn't missed out on anything. Here is a rare picture of the sun in Katelyn's eyes...I say that because we haven't seen much sun around here the past month or so, but this last week was a rare occasion.

We have also started sitting her in her Bumbo seat since she is pretty much holding her head up by herself. She loves it~well, for about 10 minutes, and then she gets bored and wants to do something else. But for those 10 minutes, she is pretty darn proud of herself and enjoys cooing and flapping/waving her arms around. It's so cute! She will sit with Noah and I on the couch while we watch TV sometimes...this picture is priceless!

It's been a busy week, but a fun one none the less! Happy 8 weeks Katelyn Claire~what a pure joy and delight you have been to your daddy and I! ~xoxox

Tummy Time

Oh tummy time...I have been trying to keep Kate from getting "flat head syndrome" and have been panicked about laying her down on her back too much or holding her with her head against my arm, etc. and all the various ways her head could be getting flatter by the second. (My mom is no help at making me feel better about it, either..."Is Kate getting enough tummy time? How long has she been on her back today? Do you need me to come over there and hold her for you?") Oh the things we worry over! So, I have been trying to find ways to not have her head resting on things and giving her "tummy time". Katelyn seems to not like lying on the floor on her stomach very much...Lucy LOVES it because she is now at her level and she thinks Kate is going to play with her. She would rather prefer to be held, go in the Baby Bjorn, the Moby wrap, etc. over just lying on the floor on her stomach. I try and get her tummy time in however I can throughout the day, but I thought I would take a few pictures of her various attempts, however. Here is one of our attempted tummy time on the floor in her room (and of course Lucy was right there with her for some tummy time of her own)!

Pure Joy!

I am in a new phase of completely LOVING being a new mom. Katelyn has started SMILING!! Not just "I'm smiling in my sleep and I don't know it", but a real full on smile because she wants to smile and because she can! :) I am enjoing tickling her belly, making weird noises, cooing, running my hands on the sides of her mouth, etc...ANYTHING to get that adorable, lovable smile from her. See what I mean?!?

I think she is tired of "performing" for her mom in these last two pictures..."Haven't you seen enough of my smile yet mom?!?" NO! NEVER! I will never be tired of that beautiful smile of hers~and it's only going to get better from here! I love you, sweet Katelyn girl! xoxox

Jackie...this one's for you!

So here I am at 11:00pm waiting for Katelyn to wake up in the next 20 minutes or so for her next feeding. What should I do to pass the time? I decided not to try and sleep because I will just be woken up in the next hour, so what else should I do?!? I know...START A BLOG! :) So, Miss Jackie Himes, here I am at this late hour on this new journey called "blogging". (Is that what they call it?!? Is that even a real word?) I am not sure how often I will be on here updating or posting, but at least this is a start. This will be my attempt to update you all (all 2 of you who will be reading this blog) on my life and journey as a new mom, as well as an update on my wonderful family...Noah, Katelyn, and of course Lucy (I can't forget the dog!) Well, I hear Kate stirring on the monitor next to my bed, so I'm signing off! Until next time~let's just hope it's sooner rather than later! :)
